We’re just a couple of days from the start of the Trials. There’s not much more to be said other than, let’s get ready to rumble, because all that’s left to do at this point is for the athletes to enter the stadium and decide who goes to London! I did spend some time going through the online entry sheets on Monday and following are twenty one items of interest from that perusal Read More...

Jun 18th, 2012

While the men's 100 is potentially the most "story" laden event heading into the Trials, it's certainly not alone in terms of story lines and depth. One of my favorites in this regard is the women's 1500, which I discussed in detail earlier. It's finally here - the Olympic Trials. The biggest meet outside of the Games themselves. And with the first half of the Diamond League and the NCAA Championships concluding this past weekend, I think I've seen enough to stick my neck out there and make my predictions on the crap shoot that is the Trials Read More...

Flanagan & Kefelzighi Lead Way to London

Jan 14th, 2012
4:10 pm PST

The U.S. began the first stages of putting together the Olympic squad for London today with the running of the Marathon Trials. If the results in Houston are any indication of the overall team we’ll be sending to London, then we’re going to be loaded by the end of June, because the marathoner’s came through in awesome fashion! The goal at the Trials is to make the team, but the men and women in the lead packs in both races were clearly out to win and run fast – and that bodes well for their ability to compete in London Read More...
