The Beijing World Championships are over and if you're a fan of the sport you were pleased with the competition. When Worlds first began back in 1983 it was all about a handful of nations - Britain, Germany, Soviet Union, and United States, with everyone else as filler. Now we see gold medal performances from Kenya, Ethiopia, China, Jamaica, Netherlands, South Africa, and Eritrea among others winning medals all over the globe! That's great for the global brand of track and field Read More...

We're a weekend away from the Penn Relays, which is typically the meet that sets things off for the outdoor season. After this weekend's performances however,I think things were set of just fine and we're on our way to one hot track season. Things started off on a down note with word that Yohan Blake won't be competing until the Jamaican championships in June Read More...

Sep 10th, 2012

It's time to start looking back on what turned out to be a pretty awesome season. I figure the best place to start reviewing is with the top performances, since that will certainly lead into discussion about the top athletes. This year there was no dearth of outstanding performances, even more than usual in an Olympic year Read More...

Today may have been the most exciting and memorable day in Olympic history. Once again we only had four finals on the day - but oh what finals they were! So let’s get right to it. We're roughly half way through with the track and field portion of the Games and though there has been a medal here and there,US troops haven't really gotten untracked - until today. Multi’s WRs Lead HOT World Championships

Mar 11th, 2012

It’s a bit ironic that today is “Selection Sunday” for the NCAA basketball tournament, because this weekend of track and field had the kind of wall to wall action associated with the NCAA Tournament. Between the NCAA & World Indoor Championships; Internet feeds; major time zone differences; and early outdoor track meets; I’ve been watching almost non-stop track and field from Friday afternoon until just a bit ago here on Sunday morning! Friday afternoon NCAA feed; late night/very early morning Worlds feed; out Saturday to a local high school meet; back in early evening in time to catch the NCAA feed; then very early morning to finish up with the Worlds feed Read More...

Weekend Action, Jan 28/29

Jan 29th, 2012
11:07 am PST

Sometimes we spend so much time wishing that the Bolt’s, Gays, and Bekele’s of the sport were competing, that we forget just how much talent there is in this sport! That was evidenced this weekend, because as early as it is in the season, there is still plenty to talk about while many stars have yet to take to the track Read More...
